Philips has finally presented its Essence HDTV extremely light at IFA this year. It is quite surprising to see a HDTV weighing just 16kg. Well, this is possible because most of its components are in a separate case, leaving only one cable for power, image and audio to the screen.

Measuring a super-slim 38mm at its thinnest point, the Essence HD LCD TV boasts a refresh rate of just 2ms and a full 1080p resolution. It also offers three HDMI ports. Each purchase includes a bracket to hang the Essence Philips TV on the wall. Price: $3709 (€2500/£2016)

The prototype displays FullHD 1080p resolution and a contrast ratio to make scream specialists “in sham” and marketing departments “but not” of 1,000,000:1.

It displays 107% of color of the NTSC standard (which must miss colors, apparently) and a brightness of 200cd/m2 (Max 600cd/m2).

Unfortunately, Samsung is quick to clarify that its production lines for OLED displays can not exceed 31-inch of diagonal, but their road map normally provides yet for 2010. Suddenly, you start to perhaps thinking about changing your Home Theater …
