Phone Guardian 3 software by Symbian Guru

Symbian Guru released their software Phone Guardian 3.0, which will help protect the mobile phone from theft, as well as unauthorized access to your privacy. Among the new specifications include:

  • Support AGPS, allowing users to track their mobile phones in more precise
  • New SMS commands
  • Ability to start the Phone Guardian not only by clicking the icon, but also using the previous secret combination
  • The SMS can be sent to 3 numbers

The Phone Guardian software will automatically lock the mobile phone, as with previous versions, after changing the SIM or on receipt of a lock SMS. You can only unlock the mobile phone with the correct password.

Windows Mobile 7 will release in 2010

The CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer confirmed in a press conference that Windows Mobile 7 will come on the market next year. The operating system will be sent to manufacturers this November. This means we will see on devices in April 2010 at the earliest. And what about Windows Mobile 6.5 in the meantime? We wonder what are the specifications required for Windows Mobile 7, and if it will provide stability and a revolutionary user experience?

Moblin: an OS for netbooks by Intel

Last week, Intel unveiled Moblin 2.0, an OS based on Fedora and for netbook running on Atom or Core 2 platforms. This is an open source project which is in its Alpha version, so very basic for the moment, but which aims to improve the battery life, reduce start-up time and make netbooks more practical. Documents To Go soon on Android

Documents To Go, this software suite for mobile phones (already available on Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian) to create, edit and view Excel, Word and Powerpoint documents will therefore appeared on Android in the year 2009. Finally, the release date was not revealed, but you can still register on http://www.dataviz.com/android to be notified as soon as it becomes available.

Firefox Mobile for Symbian in April 2009

The Firefox team announced that it want to propose a version of the Fennec (Firefox Mobile if you follow…) for Symbian, in addition to Linux and Windows Mobile. Result: a basic version will be available as early as February 2009, while the “full browsing-enabled” version will arrive in April.

MySpace Mobile now hosts streaming video

Good news for users of the mobile version of MySpace, which hosts now the possibility to watch streaming videos. It’s compatible with the BlackBerry Bold, Palm Centro, Motorola Q9, LG Voyager, Nokia N95, Samsung Instinct,… Finally, the update is not negligible, as it is known that the mobile version of the site, m.myspace.com, receives 3 billion visitors per month.

Skyfire: The new internet browser for smartphones

Skyfire Internet Browser for smartphonesSince last week, the Internet browser Skyfire is available on smartphones running Windows Mobile and Symbian. This software was previously proposed, in beta for American, Canadian and British users.

Just like Mozilla Firefox, Skyfire has a full display of Web pages. The great value of this internet browser is the support for Ajax and Flash technologies. As such, it’s entirely possible to view videos from YouTube, or Flash animation on the smartphone.

Finally, Skyfire offers to the user the possibility to save images in the storage space of the mobile phone, but you can also send URLs via SMS.

Nokia launches Lotus Notes Traveler on its Symbian S60 smartphones
