Posted in: Laptops
Lenovo is aware that thefts of laptops are increasing, and they included a new security feature that allows users to lock their Lenovo laptops (ThinkPad), simply by sending a text message.
Named Lenovo Constant Secure Remote Disable, it’s the result of a collaboration with Phoenix Technologies, send the text message “lockdown PC now” or “PC shut off” to the mobile broadband embedded into the laptop automatically prevent unauthorized access to the computer data. If the computer is off when the message is sent, it will execute the instructions sent automatically at the next time the computer is turned on. Once the laptop is in protection mode, users receive a text message confirmation. It would be nice if these laptops could also send their coordinates via GPS to catch the thief.
