LG Fantasy USB flash drive

Friday, January 30th, 2009

LG Electronics doesn’t make only mobile phones, TVs and computers. There are of course all the general public electronics industry but also appliances occupying the giant Korean. And we often forget the small accessories such as the new USB flash drive with a capacity of 1GB to 8GB, called Fantasy. Nothing special in itself but I like the simplicity of the thing.

The Buffalo RUF2-KL USB flash drive is ultra thin

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Buffalo has released the new RUF2-KL USB flash drive which has 16GB of storage space and a thickness of only 8mm. Pity that the choice of colors is quite limited: black or white, because something so small would certainly have made a super-tech fashion accessory. This USB flash drive weighs 10g and has a price around $70.

Kanguru e-Flash: eSATA and USB in one flash drive

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Kanguru has just presented a flash drive, the e-Flash, very original because it has a USB interface and a eSATA interface.

The advantage of a eSATA flash drive is no doubt regarding to speed. On the other hand, the big disadvantage is that it requires an external power supply (on this flash drive). The fact that both interfaces are met thus allows greater flexibility is ease of use outdoors.

According to Kanguru, eSATA mode has a rate of 75 MB/s in reading and 25 MB/s in writing, against 30 MB/s reading and 20 MB/s in writing for the USB interface. For the 32 GB flash drive, the price is $120, and the 16 GB version is available for $85. A 64 GB model will arrive next year.

Kingston DataTraveler 150: 64GB USB flash drive

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

The Kingston DataTraveler DT150 USB flash drive has a storage space of 64GB. 64GB is really a lot, and there are chances that you have enough storage space, except if you download full HD videos. We prefer to see it as a flexible backup and portable tool, but organize all that storage space can be difficult. The Kingston DataTraveler 150 is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, Windows 2000, Mac OS X 10.3 (and higher) and Linux 2.6 (and higher). Price: $177 and is guaranteed for 5 years.

Corsair Flash Voyager: 64 GB in a USB flash drive

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

The 64 GB Flash Voyager doesn’t offer a new design compared to other USB flash drives of this range of Corsair, at least in appearance, because even if it has the colors and materials of the other USB flash drives in this series existing for a long time now, it is much longer. Where the Flash Voyager 32GB had thickened over the other Flash Voyager USB flash drives of smaller capacity, posing some problems in the cohabitation with adjacent USB peripherals to the USB drive, the 64 GB version becomes thinner but gaining length and not a little. Simply put this USB flash drive next to the 32 GB version for realizing it. But we must put the NAND Flash chips somewhere.

A-Data Xupreme: A sober and high-performance USB drive

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

The Xupreme is sober, with no frills, but fast: it reaches nearly 30 MB/s. Good news for lovers of capacity, it exists in 32 GB, but models of 8 and 16 GB are also available. ReadyBoost certified and weighing only 15 grams, it measures 66 x 19 x 10 mm. The price obviously varies according to capacity: $25 for 8 GB, $39 for 16 GB and $69 for 32 GB. If the outmoded look does not bother you, so it’s a good choice.
